The star of STAR SEARCH and TV'S BLOOPERS AND PRACTICAL JOKES as well as quintessential late night talk show sidekick has passed away at the age of 86.
Little known fact: One of Ed's first tv gigs in Philadelphia back in the day [1958] was appearing on SHOCK THEATER hosted by Roland [later known as Zacherle] and it was his job to announce the movie for the night. Ed apparantly never forgot his roots as during the run of TV'S BLOOPERS AND PRACTICAL JOKES Elvira was a frequent guest during the Halloween season and they would run clips from several horror host shows across the country including some of his old pal Zacherle.

Poor Ed. I really felt sorry for him these last couple of years. And yes, I do recall those Elvira episodes on "TV Bloopers". Of course, he was also the narrator in the horror movie "Dementia" from 1955.
May he finally rest in peace and team up with his old partner again.
