I'm 5 episodes in and this is by far the best of the Metal Hero or Sentai type series I've seen. No wonkey 70s disco porn music like in the Space Sheriff shows, no annoying kids to have to save and a pretty grim feel to the whole thing. The Kaijin are mostly cool and actually have quite a bit of depth to them. The effects are really surprisingly good and the fights stand apart from most toku of that era.
I'd love to see it subbed, but even raw it's pretty easy to follow. The DVD image quality is really excellent.
Never watched VR Troopers. That Sabanization depresses me.

I enjoyed what I saw of it, remake of Kikaida that it is. subbed would make it better, and I would like to see nice copies of it sometime as well.

I F-ING LOVE METALDER Man, was this the best of Toei's Metal Hero series or what! Well, I would rate it as a tie w/ "Gavan" as the best of the MH genre. A beautifully haunting soundtrack for dark and downbeat journeyman saga(or would it be journeyrobo) And how absolutely kick-ass is having the different clans of cyborgs, kaijin, robots, and super-suited humans duke it out and the victor gets to face metalder? TOO COOL!
