Norberto Salgado Salcedo better known to lucha libre fans as Pierroth or sometime Pierroth Jr is slowly recovering from a cerebral embolism he recently suffered. This week's episode of RAS DE LONA revealed the effects of the embolism and Pierroth was virtually UNRECOGNIZABLE from the gruff loudmouth he was just two years ago.He has lost ALOT of weight, he has limited motor skills and his once booming voice has all but left him yet he gave an interview to RAS DE LONA in which at various points he broke down in tears. He tried to sing a few times [outside of the ring he was known to love to sing Ranchera music] but forgot the words at times and when asked what wrestler he would like to have in front of him at the moment he tearfully replied "La Parka" and then made an about face from his in ring persona saying he loved to eat Nopals all day [his in ring persona was that of a proud Anti-Mexican Puerto Rican who berated Mexicans calling them Nopal eaters] and laughed about it. Various factors contributed to his current state, though incredibly they didn't mention the most obvious and that is in the last couple of years Pierroth sadly let himself go and gained alot of weight towards the end of his career. It was heartbreaking to see one of the top rudos of lucha libre in the 90's reduced to what appears to be a 90 year old man, about twice his actual age. Hopefully this serves as a warning to veteran luchadores and up and comers as well that they really need to stay consistent with training regiments and not let themselves balloon in weight just because they are "consagrados" already and don't think they need to worry about looking good anymore. It's not just about having a good physique but ensuring they stay healthy for a long,long time.
