This is definitely on my top ten movies of all time list! I also consider it to be the best remake of a movie EVER(also love the 1951 Hawks version) This is one of those films that, 27 years later, is much more popular and appreciated than it was during its initial release(IMO,the reason it was a flop is due to its extreme gore coupled with its nihilistic mood and the fact it is a powerful AIDS metaphor) Ennio Morricones synthesizer score fits the film PERFECTLY, and totally adds to the feelings isolation, desolation, and paranoia. Carpenters most well-directed film to date. And, COME ON! Rob Bottins effects are MASSIVELY AWESOME!!!

It is a really good movie. For having such gonzo over the top goo and monster effects and explosions etc, the intensity and drama of the characters are what really move it along. It's very engaging all the way along. AND it's very funny to watch on something like Scifi channel. All the violence and cussing is clipped out so the movie is like 30 minutes long.
