Yup it appears that Disney wants to buy Marvel comics lock stock and webshooters. The deal has to be approved by Marvel shareholders but at this point it seems very likely there will be a change in management at Marvel.
In a prophetic statment in the current MAXIM Stan Lee is quoted as saying "I always wanted us to be another Disney and we are now closer than ever!" No Stan Marvel is just another part of Disney. Can't wait to see the DANGER ROOM attraction at DISNEYWORLD.

The movies saved Marvel from folding, it was truly that precarious for them. Marvel has gotten much better at mass marketing but they are no Disney in that department. As long as Disney lets Marvel do their thing without trying to homogenize the product under the guise of family entertainment this could be very huge for Marvel. Man Marvel done Pixar style could totally rock. In an ironic twist if Disney wants to feature Marvel characters at their park it won't be at Disney World. Universal Orlando has an exclusive deal stating they can be the only theme park East of the Mississippi River to feature most of Marvels signature heroes.

Marvel fan boys are getting in a tizzy already. I always marvel at the fan boy Nerds that are so passionate about what they love that they become elitist and close minded and are not the least bit receptive to change. I am a fan boy nerd for alot that that I love like Star Wars, Transformers, Comis, Kung Fu flicks, but geez some take it way to personal when things don't go theor way.

So far I have yet to see a major downside. What's the big fear? Lack of quality? Marvel has been drowning in mediocrity and a plain ol' sea of stinkiness for at least ten years now. The company had become to concerned with being a coorporate machine as opposed to a creative force in the comics industry. They are just another clog in the Disney machine now but I don't see an overall dip in the quality. Marvel comics will probably remain the same and in my opinion that ISN'T a good thing.

I'm not a fanboy and I think its a terrible idea. Disney produces nothing, just takes credit for other companies works. All Disney is now is a distribution company.
