The man known as the Spanish Wolf Man Jacinto Molina or better known as Paul Naschy has parted this mortal coil. Naschy made a name for himself as Spain's most prolific horror movie star in the 60's through 80's, portraying the cursed Waldemar Daninsky, the polish lycanthrope, in much more movies than Lon Chaney jr ever did as his furry alter ego.
Naschy's films rarely boasted the budgets of their American and british counterparts but they often delivered more monsters and horror than the other films. The international versions of his films were also some of the first to incorporate newdity though the domestic spanish versions would feature alternate scenes sans newdity. Naschy's best remembered opus as Waldemar Daninsky was LA NOCHE DE WALPURGIS which ran in the US as either WEREWOLF'S SHADOW or the much less creatively titled WEREWOLF VS THE VAMPIRE WOMEN. Naschy's horror film career stretched well into the new millenium though he did do non horror films as well his fright films were what made him an icon.

Naschy was ahead of his time as so much of today's horror films contain elements he first scripted into his films.

I was sad to hear of his passing. David, you introduced me to his films and I thank you. I liked the three I've seen so far. His work will live on.
