Does anyone have any artwork, publicity stills, etc., for this movie? It's for an important project, I must say. If so, please contact me at thehumanvapor@yahoo.com
Thanks!

Thanks. I'll see if that'll work.
By the way, TBTS was never re-released and redubbed as Water Cyborg(s), correct? Just making sure on that one.

Sorry to be so late checking in. Actually, David, you ask a good question 'cause I don't know! I passed it along to the person who requested it and haven't heard anything since. Maybe I should follow up on it.
Thanks again for tracking this stuff down, guys.

That's not a licensed DVD that is coming out... These guys probably think that the film is PD, but it is not... at least according to Toei, whom I contacted about it (no, I didn't rat these guys out). I asked them if anyone had licensed the rights in North America, and they said "no".
The English version we are familiar with was prepared and was dubbed in Japan by William Ross' company and that's the print that Toei sold to overseas buyers. There were American and Italian investors involved, the same folks behind THE GREEN SLIME, but this was originally part of a 5-picture deal struck with Toei and Ram Films, but since Ram no longer exists, Toei owns the world-wide rights to this film -- any release of this film in North America, would not be a exactly legal. Plus, I doubt that these guys are working with 35mm elements -- most likely, this will be like Retromedia's releases: from an old 16mm print.
Let the Buyer beware...

i just picked this up- the picture looks better than ANYthing i've seen before, which includes the prerecord and the tv print on sci-fi. very crisp and nice. the sound is good as well. whatever print they used, it really looks great.
it is cropped a bit, to have the 1.85:1 ratio, but it's not too bad. it also comes with subtitles, but there is only English on the disc.
a very enjoyable movie.

They booted the video from the Toei Video DVD release... these guys are not cool. They should license the films from Toei, like everyone else.

The people who did this dvd seem to be operating under the same mentallity that people who do American dvds of Mexico's wrestling movies which is:"Let's see them try to sue us from all the way in some other country!"And sad to say this seems to work for them.It is difficult for legal copyright owners in other countries to sue people who release unauthorized dvds or videos of their films here in the USA.Many of them will not even bother believing the courts here will simply favor the enfractors who are American, not too mention such a lawsuit could be costly for the legal copyright owners.

and even when legal copyright holders do sue, such as Bill Ferguson v. VDK, the US judge through it out saying, in essence "no one cares about these movies". whether or not you agree with Bill about how he did it, he did have the rights to the movies.
those subbed Santo movies weren't licensed either? dang, i didn't mean to give money to so many pirates!

Well according to the guys who did the subbed Santo dvds they had authorization from Hijo del Santo, but apparantly he doesn't hold the legal rights to these films.
