Keizo Kawasaki ... Toru Toyomi Karita ... Hikari Aozora/Ginko Bin Yagasawa ... No. 2 Pairan Shozo Nanbu ... Dr. Toro Isobe Bontarô Miyake ... Dr. Kamura (as Bontaro Miake) Mieko Nagai ... Taeko Kamura Kiyoko Hirai ... Mrs. Matsuda Isao Yamagata ... Dr. Matsuda
this is a fun movie that i would like to see with a better picture and subtitled as well. i quite enjoy it, though i can see where it could get a little draggy, especially toward the end of the movie.
friendly aliens show up to warn the Earth of an impending doom!

At the end, when everyone is suffering because of the intense heat, heck, I begin to feel warm as well!
I find interesting the lives of the three senior scientists. Two of them live quite modestly with their families. The third one, Dr. Matsuda, lives in a much fancier home with a servant to boot! Wealth for him but not his fellow scientists?
My favorite part is the transition of the Star creature to the woman. Almost reminiscent of "Metropolis" when the robot turns into the flesh Maria.

This is a cool movie, and the first color tokusatsu film. The Pairans are uniquely designed aliens(notice in the Starman movies there are very similar creatures shown on the high council of the emerald planet). I saw this on the late night Theater Bizaare in 1987 or so, and my old tape has better color than the current faded PD prints out on every budget label dvd I've seen.

The last thing I'd expect from a film like this to get some kind of restoration, but my goodness, these current faded DVD prints are worse than the VHS tape I bought years ago from Sinister Cinema. I had David transfer my VHS version to DVD. I then just kept the Alpha Video cover and threw away their disk. ;D

what's interesting is that Alpha usually USED the tapes from Sinister to make their DVDs! it's a shame this doesn't look better.

I always liked this one since I was a kid. I too have a somewhat faded DVD copy now. BLOB-FEST in Phoenixville, PA is going to be showing it this year, along with THE BLOB naturally. I hope I'm able to go - have to see how my new schedules work out first.

If it's out by Alpha Video, than if I'm patient, it should appear at the Prelinger Movie Archive in due time. Than I shall download it.
On the subject of the PD japanese sci-fi, how are those Prince of Space films?
