Hey guys, been a while since I checked in. I see we've gone back to the old-style boards. Henshin! Online( www.henshinonline.com/) is reporting that Media Blasters has finally confirmed that they have indeed acquired the rights to Yog, Monster from Space/Space Amoeba, with an October 11th release date announced. Dogora is slated for a July 12th street date, whcih is also good news. Let's hope they stick with these dates (they have a nasty habit of giving release dates and then pulling them back). I'm excited at the thought of getting some nice prints of these films.

i love YOG quite a bit, it would be nice if MB went the extra mile and acquired the AIP soundtrack. i know Toho has a print of the movie with it, since a friend of mine rented it for his film festival many years ago.
Dagora will be fun as well.

Perhaps one day, they'll dig up LATITUDE ZERO. One can only hope.

I don't think it's a matter of "digging up" LATITUDE ZERO - my understanding is there is some sort of rights conflict involved with the movie. It's not even on DVD in Japan.

Speaking of Dogora, I finished my review for it yesterday. www.geocities.com/drngor/dogora.htmlBoth Yog and Dogora were excellent movies. I have special childhood memories of renting Yog from my local mom n' pops video store.

i'm looking forward to getting Dagora eventually, it's been finding it that's the problem.
i love YOG as well- i saw it first in about 72, and had never seen three monsters in any movie. i'd seen the trailer in the theater earlier, and that scared the hell out of me- i thought that huge squid would attack anywhere.
great poster, too.

Have you watched Dogora before?
I agree, Yog has one of the coolest posters. That and "The Land that Time Forgot." Unfortunately, the laser-shooting manta ray doesn't appear in the movie.

oh, yes, i've seen Dagora plenty of times, but not in the nice print this will be, complete with English track. i'm looking forward to that, for sure.
i think that's a spaceship in the YOG poster, not a manta ray- doesn't it look like the Enterprise?

Actually, I was referring to the "Land that Time Forgot" poster.

You know, the manta ray was so weird that it didn't ever register to me I guess, because you mentioning it is the first time I remember noticing it. Or I just forgot about it, but the submariner T-Rex always struck me as bizaare in the extreme. That was probably weird enough to where the rest of the poster never really registered. I'd see that poster and instantly all that banged around in my head was "submariner t-rex... submariner t-rex.... submariner t-rex..."
Weird trivia moment.... just basing this completely off of memory, I think the first major article I saw on LttF was in the issue of Famous Monsters of Filmland that had a weird painting for Day of the Triffids on the cover.
Holy crap... that was 30 years ago...

that is one weird poster. i have the book that was released at the time, and i had forgotten everything BUT the submariner rex.
the top half is great, makes complete sense, and then suddenly there is the water stuff- a Seaview type sub, a bathysphere, the octopus and the death dealing manta ray don't even exist in the movie.

The bathysphere and the octopus must've been on loan from "Warlords of Atlantis" (assuming the poster was made afterword). The Mantis? Lords of the Deep?

You're right, Captain Satellite. There some legal woes regarding LATITUDE ZERO. Don't really know what they are though. Anyone have some info?

FYI, just in case y'all didn't know, ATRAGON hits the shelves January 10th, complete with the original AIP dub track! I'm more anxious about that one, seeing as how I've been holding off on watching my copy of it ever since I heard the release date was pushed back. Agonizing, indeed!

sadly, none of the AIP released stuff had the original AIP track. it's not bad, the English dub, but not as good as it could have been. ATRAGON is actually better subbed, even i will admit, due to the drama. MUSHROOM PEOPLE and DAGORA never got the AIP dub treatment, so that's no biggie either.
