Here's a fun topic. What's everyone's favorite or top favorite Godzilla movie posters? Personally, my favorite of all is the US one-sheet for GODZILLA VS THE COSMIC MONSTER with that fantastic painting by the legendary Basil Gogos of the 68 Godzilla blasting MG in front of a volcano all done in warm browns, yellows and oranges. This was the first movie poster I ever bought 17 or 18 years ago.Other favorites include the US one sheets for Megalon (on top of the Trade Center-sure it's a rip on the 76 Kong poster, but who cares-it looks better and was a better movie!), Ghidrah(bright yellow with black art!), Kong vs G,the International style posters for Terror of MG& Ebirah, and Noriyoshi Orai's painted advance posters for every film from G84 through GFW(his G2k poster was actually used for GFW).

Hmmm, let's see... I like the incredibly misleading poster-art for AIP's release of Godzilla vs. The Thing. All of Cinema Shares Godzilla releases had excellent posters. The Heisei series had a some really awesome painted works, my favorites being for The Return of Godzilla and Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah. The Japanese poster for Godzilla vs. Megalon is cool too. I like a sleuth of others, but these are fine for now.

Those are all great posters Giganfan! That painted poster for GODZILLA VS KING GHIDORAH is probably my second favorite one and the G84 art poster is excellent too. That crazy AIP G vs the Thing poster image was recycled so many times in various foreign Godzilla posters too. I've seen versions of it used for posters or ad art from foreign releases of Ebirah, Son and Gigan to name a few! I believe it was AIP poster artist Reynold Brown that painted that by the way. Brown was prolific and painted many of the greatest US B movie posters of all time in the 50s and 60s for AIP and other studios like Allied Artists and Universal.

i love GODZLILA VS MEGALON the most, i think. the Gogos Mechagodzilla is great as well, and i'm sort of fond of GIGANTIS- now there's a weird one! SMOG MONSTER is very good also.
i wish i could include DESTROY ALL MONSTERS, but it's just not a very good poster- well, it should have been better, anyway.

SMOG MONSTER is another great one! Actually, it's probably my favorite, because I have an original print of the AIP poster. It's not in the best of shape, but it still looks great on the wall. I can't believe that I left that one out at first!

I thought the poster to G vs. MG 93 was quite riveting. Say what you will about the movie itself, but the poster is awesome. I also like the poster to Godzilla Final Wars.

Yes! Both the US posters for YOG and VARAN are great! I love the YOG one with Gezora on top of the earth fighting all those spaceships and Ganime and Kamoebas peeking over the edge of the gflobe in the background. Varan's is cool too with that stylized Varan popping up out of the water clutching a tree! Another good US poster is KING KONG ESCAPES with Kong and Mechani-Kong each with their fists back ready to haul off and slug each over standing over various images from the movies below them! They also made alot of great posters in Germany-I have an absolutely beautiful painted poster for GAMERA VS MONSTER X that has Gamera and Jiger clashing over a cityscape-great stuff! The German srt for films like YONGARY and GAPPA are excellent too.

I gotta tell you though. My favorite of all Godzilla movie posters, is a foreign sheet. I think it's German but I'm not exactly sure. It's basically the Japanese art for the Godzilla vs. Megalon poster, but the title reads "Gorgo and Superman Fight in Tokyo!" ;D    Okay, it's not my favorite, but it's real fun, because of how ridiculously inaccurate it is. |
