This film is such a wacked out film! Jet Jaguar (a robot with no characteristics of a jaguar), Megalon, a giant beetle. I mean man I enjoyed myself. It left my mother and I laughing. Since I enjoyed it so much (which resulted to twisted dreams), I can enjoy something like the FAIRLY ODD PARENTS episode "The Boy who Wished to be Queen".
Well if you enjoy GODZILLA VS MEGALON, what do you enjoy?

Jakavin, Goro and Roku, I think are cool as hell! To me, they look like the two life-long friends who've been obsessed with Japanese fantasy since they were little, and the son/little brother who is just getting into the fandom. You see those kinds of people at G-Fest's and Kaiju-cons and etc.'s all the time. That's one major reason I'm a fan of GODZILLA VS. MEGALON. It unintentionally set a prescedent in fans of Godzilla movies. Unintentional, but still that's what it did.

This is definitely not a movie to ever watch with a serious mindset. When I want serious and dark, I'll go with the new Gamera trilogy or GxMG (not that dark, but you get the idea). Megalon is a movie perfect for pure fun and entertainment. One of the things I like most about the movie is that, once you get past some spots like the car chase and the more uncomfortable short-shorts shots , the movie gets a hold of you and won't let go. The tag-team battles in this film are some of my favorites, and each monster isn't just another lumbering threat, but a being with a unique personality. That's pretty much the biggest thing the Heisei series got wrong - kaiju are people too. ;D

this is one of my favorite Godzilla movies, for many reasons. one is that i got to see it on the big screen, twice in a row. two, it had four giant monsters (well, one robot, but you know what i mean). three, i was at that magic age of 11, where movies make lasting impressions on you. i'd say from age 7-13 or so, right before the opposite sex starts doing the same (or same sex, "not that there's anything wrong with that" ). much more fun than any of the 90s movies.

I feel the same way. This was one of the first Godzilla movies I can remember (think this was my second, after the original), and I've always enjoyed it and can't quite understand why it seems to get brushed off as often as it does. When you think about it, most Godzilla films are at least a bit whacked out and less-than-serious. Megalon might be the goofiest (the lasting impression in my mind has always been the kid paddling that porpoise/dolphin toy on the lake!), but it isn't really a departure from the overall theme of the series. The original was the most serious, and the early Gamera films such as Gamera vs. Barugon & Gamera vs. Gyaos were dark as well (although Gyaos started the "Gamera is the kids' friend thing", almost unitentionally), much darker than anything Godzilla was doing at the time anyway. Well, I guess there must be something about Megalon that's off, since it seems to get the mantle of many fans' least-favorite film. I don't know, saying it's too goofy is kinda like saying any particular episode of Family Guy was whackier than any other.

One of my favorite Godzilla films also. It's literally tons of fun. "Rise up Megalon!!! You can do it Baby! Megalon! Rise up!!!" ;D The tag team battle is simply classic, as well as Jet Jaguar's song at the very end. When number one son was very young in the middle '80s, this was one of the first movies he stayed up late to watch - and we've loved it ever since. My son kept wanting one of those, but I always replied, " They're damn dangerous."
