They are predicting that Hurricane Ivan will make landfall in this area. One bad thing about living on the Gulf of Mexico is having to worry about Hurricanes. I hope Chris and Amy are far enough from the Coast to not haave to deal with this. My Wife jinxed the whole country. She had remarked how slow this Hurricane Season had been and then bam, storm after storm forms. Once the thing passes through the Yucatan strait we'll have a better idea where it will go. Category Fiver Hurricanes are not to be trifled with. At least we have somewhere to go. It'll just be hard because I can't drive because of the back and my Wife just had her surgery and hasn't been cleared to drive, but we'll get my Brother to drive. My Mom lived through Camille and vows she is going nowhere.

Will do. Yeah, my Mom is something else. They went to my Great Grandma's house on First Street which was very close to the beach. The house didn't flood because it is raised, and being that close to the water wnd weathering the storm so to speak has only strengthened my Mom's resolve. They are saying this storm is on par with Camille, and I have zero desire to be here for that.

Dave Barry's advice for survivng Hurricanes is to 1) purchase 3 days worh of supplies. 2) pack them in your car and drive to Nebraska. Stay there until Halloween.
It's true we never have to worry about Hurricanes here. We do have tornadoes, although they seem to stay away from Lincoln.

We did okay. The storm was heading right at us and then veered towards Mobile at the last minute. We still got Hurricane force winds, but aside from a few downed tress and limbs not much in the way of damage, Unfortuantely the Florida panhandle got hit very hard. The three hour journey to my Grandparents killed me, so aside from hurting I am fine down here.
