The author of this phrase "While it's important to respect your children's privacy" should not be allowed to have children.

Nor should anyone who thinks it's okay to just butt in on everything your kids do, either. Everyone is entitled to a certain amount of privacy, period. I don't see the point of this thread. What does it have to with movies or monsters or superheroes or comics or whatever? Why don't we just make a thread about "All those stupid old people"? Really.

My kids leave coded messages on my 1955 Dictaphone all the time. The code is a blend of Esperanto, Morse and reverse pig Latin. It's extremely confusing and effective. "Oh, a wiseguy eh?" ~ "No, Esperanto expert" ~

mostly i thought i was making fun of all slang, but perhaps that got lost in translation. i also kept seeing the narrator form THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW while i was reading the article.
"it's just a ju^^p 2 ur left..."

Children do not have privacy rights. A parent who doesn't know what his/her children are doing at all times is a fool. The problem with modern parents is they don't parent, because they want to be their child's friend instead of mother or father.

While I agree that some parents these days should be a lot more responsible for their children then they are, that doesn't change the fact that looming over them every minute of their lives until they're 21 isn't good parenting, it's just messed up. Everyone deserves a certain amount of privacy, even kids. I feel sorry for any kid who doesn't mind their parents controlling every last thing they do.
Seeing as how this isn't going to go anywhere, and it's really not appropriate for this forum, I suggest we drop it. There are plenty of other places online to discuss things like this.
