Megs! You sure did the right thing leaving EzBoard. Currently, the worse crash they ever had is playing out. The boards were inaccessible through most of last night, but that is minor compared to this: After the boards returned today, months of posts, member data, stats and money from the Community Chests are now missing! My whole Stooge Short Review forum got wiped out, along with months of threads in the other forums. Posting is still messed up, with replies rarely working, even at the Help board. AND GET THIS: EzBoard will not confirm whether the missing posts can be restored or not! How's that for customer service? That's gotta mean their back-ups are in question. All the long hours of work that I and other admins put into their boards might be lost forever. If they can't restore the missing posts and make good on the Community Chests I'm definitely outta there. Sucks BIG-TIME. I hate the thought of starting over, but those jerks might force me to. DAMN!

I am SO glad we left sleazyboard when we did, but I'm sorry to hear about your board, Lunkhead. If they don't restore every board on their system, they had better at least restore gold boards, including all posts and all money in the community chest. If you decide to move away from sleazyboard, ProBoards is great! I'll admit the upgrades have been a bit of a hassle, especially for boards like this one that had to go through the downtime twice... but once the upgrade is over, I doubt we'll have to worry about that for another 4 years or so, plus we have subforums now! How much money was in your CC before? I see it says you have $5 now.

Sure, I can do that. What's the url to your smilies page? I seem to have misplaced it.

Right-click on the link and "Save Link As" for Mozilla, or "Save Target As" for IE. If you're using Mozilla, you might want to change the name to ezhammer.gif and crossfingers.gif instead of what comes up automatically. I just tried this in Mozilla with ezhammer and it worked, so you shouldn't have any problem saving them from my links above. I don't know where the whip went.

i wonder if Chris has them somewhere.
now if i can figure out why the clock here is about 15 minutes slow from "real time" i'd be happy. your test board is about right though, which i think is odd. i'll do the icons tomorrow, since it's late here. thanks for all the hard work doll!

Glad to help, my friend! Guess what I found in this thread. While I was putting it in the censored words list, I found another one to add to the smiley code. This clock is about 11 minutes off for me, although Whoosh's clock has been 15 minutes off for me before.

Thanks Megs and Gig. Sorry about not getting back to this thread sooner. Didn't Proboards used to have the "notify by email" checkbox to alert you about replies to threads? It seems to have been replaced by the "bookmark" option. Maybe I'm just not seeing where it is now.
Anyhow, thanks for the thoughts on the EzBoard mess. Gig, we had $10.00 in our Community Chest and it was donated by one of the other members, so I sure hope they fix it.
Currently, the same posts are still missing at my board. I also just tried the old Xenorama and nothing there yet. EzBoard said they should be able to get back to 05/09/05, but are not guaranteeing anything.
I had thought about going to Proboards before, and it is still an option. I've been investigating other ideas too, such as hosting a board directly on my site. There are a few good free source code ones out there, so we'll see. Think it's time to bid EzBoard adieu.

i myself am confused by the bookmark option but i bet <L> can help explain that. she's a genius eh. if EZ gets some of the posts back you can transfer them over to a new board. Chris managed to do that with some of the serials for me, so i know it can be done. i really did like EZ but they just had too many problems. keep us posted Lunk!

Hey, how is Chris doing? Haven't seen him around in a long time.

I am good, I just don't get around the message boards as much anymore. Mostly playing around on Livejournal and such when not tinkering with my websites. I still drop in from time to time. The posting is just a bit more sporadic.

Oh, and I took a look around my old ezboard, which has been closed since October. It's even missing some stuff! I archived the threads I needed there to disc, so I'm not too worried. Still sorta weird that the database took that hard of a hit. I may need to post another farewell message there.

i knew he'd be around in a while! by the way, i think Preston had a question or two for you, Cap. EZ says things will be restored from May 9th or sometime, but who knows. i stop by every so often, now about once a day to check. we will see.

Ah, there ya are Chris. Good to hear from you. Sorry, I haven't been here much lately with everything that's been happening. Didn't realize you changed your display name to Captain Satellite. That's a pretty cool feature of ProBoards.
I keep hoping EzBoard will restore Xenorama for archive sake, but their latest update isn't encouraging.
From EzBoard:
Bleepin hacker. And careless StupidBoard!
I'm still working on the new phpBB2 board. Should be able to let you see it soon.

I've been using this handle off and on for a little while, so I thought I'd go with it as a display name. No one seems too confused so far. I think the hacker has probably gotten exactly what he/she wanted - namely, pointing up how inefficient ezboard is. We shall see, we shall see.
