Hey guys. I've been away from the board for quite awhile and David has been trying to get me back for some time now, and I've been meaning to get back, but there's been an unending stream of crap going on, but I'm finally back! I've had an eventful year! I was working an odd 10 hour shift from 3pm to 1 am Monday through Thursday, but around the beginning of July I developed vertigo so bad I felt like I had been spinning around or rolling down a hill, or like I just chugged a few six packs! It was so bad that if I tried to move around I would throw up. I almost ended up hospitalized from it, but managed to avoid that luckily. It got better enough where I could move without puking but I needed a can to steady myself until November. I'm still dizzy but I can walk without a cane now thankfully. However, my doctor says I'm as better as I'm likely to ever get, so I need to go into a different line of work-being dizzy around heavy machinery, or machines with lots of needles isn't such a good idea! I am taking on line college classes in criminal justice, but have had to put those temporarily on the back burner at the moment. I'm fighting with unemployment at the moment, they are dragging their feet in approving my case (I LOVE New York state!). it's not so much the money but the training I need from them so that I can get an office type job. However, on the upside, as a therapy, it was suggested that I try painting. Well, I had abandoned any serious aspirations at an art career several years ago and the last time I tried painting was in 2000 and I found it frustrating as i could never get the paint to do what I wanted to. I don't know what is different now, but I have seriously looked at paintings from master painters like Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Goya and modern painters like Frazetta and Egglseton and noticed they accomplish allot with less. A few brush strokes suggest allot more detail than is really there. I don't know if I adapted that philosophy or I'm just more relaxed about it now, but I am really enjoying painting and my work is allot better than the stuff I did in the past! Good enough that several family members and friends have told me I should consider selling them on ebay or local shows, so I might give it a shot. My old DVD recorder is dying a slow death but I am getting a new one in a few weeks, so anyone that I still owe discs too(Raul, David-I think i owe you guys some) I'll be able to make discs that actually work. Anyhoo, I'm glad to be back on Xeno! I have a ton of stuff I want to post about that I've watched so I'll shut up about myself and get to the interesting stuff.

Welcome back Mike! Best of luck with your health and endeavors. I was out of work in 2002, so I know how you feel. Hang in there. If you feel like dropping by my new stooge/monster board, here's the link: www.lunkhead.net/board/phpBB2I got fed up with EzBoard last summer after they let a hacker destroy tons of posts and had no backups to restore it! I should have followed David's queue and abandoned them sooner. Again, it's good to see you back.

photobucket.com/albums/f24/RedKing71/I can't figure out how to add pictures to the post, but this link will take you to my photobucket folder that has photos of all the paintings and some sketches.I've done since October. I just finished the one called Blue Eyes and a Velvet Dress today. The Angelus vesper (Latin for Angel of the Evening Star) and North Atlantic 1734 I did as Christmas presents for my Mom and Dad and the G2K one I actually reworked from an earlier version I did in 2000 that did not come out good at all. I just painted over the top of the old one. The others are all new. Let me know what you guys think.

I figured you might like that one David. I loosely based it on an actual sighting off the coast of Greenland in 1734, so it probably is the same one in the book. I should be getting a scanner any day now..well, actually, I have the scanner already, i just need the software CD to load it onto my computer so it will work, which is what I'll be getting any day. Granted, the paintings are too big to be scanned, but I can scan my sketches and scan details from the paintings that will look alot better than my digital photos.

Man, I caught the tail end of those too! There are 2 more on next week-check your listings!! I've been a Python fan since I was about 7 years old and they used to be on PBS every night. Same with Benny Hill around the same age. By the mid to late 80s my local PBS station had a ton of great british comedies and i used to watch all of them-Python, Are you Being Served?, Dave Allen tonight(I think was the title), Fawlty Towers(probably the funniest sitcom EVER) and Benny Hill was back on local UHF.

Yup, I didn't even mention the British sci-fi. My local PBS used to show Dr Who twice on Sundays-at 5pm and 11pm plus Blake's 7 (which i never liked), Red Dwarf, the Avengers, the Prisoner and the Saint. For awhile they even ran 2 PBS channels-one was their regular PBS stuff and the other was devoted to other stuff and they showed Dr Who there for awhile and ran a horror movie Fridays at midnight where I saw and taped Hammer's THE VAMPIRE LOVERS uncut-boobs and all right on PBS!
