Well it's summertime again. Just wondering how everyone's enjoying it so far. My kids are all officially done school as of today. We plan to do some swimming, fishing and possibly camping this year. And definitely a couple trips to Drive-Ins and maybe some day trips. BLOB-FEST at the Colonial Theater in Phoenixville is a another must. We always head to the Jersey shore in August for 2 weeks as a finale. So far the weather in the Philly area has been really nice - we had a great spring! Looks to get hot this weekend, so a cool dip might be in order.

The Drive-In is a definite, plus I have a bunch of free movie passes that I never used, but now that I work across the parking lot from the mall cinemas, I've already used them to see X3 and THE OMEN remake. We usually try and get to the New Hampshire seashore every year, but I don't know if we will this year-I might not be able to get the time off, and I'm not sure if I can handle the 3 hour car ride with my stupid vertigo. The longest I've riden so far is about an hour or so and that was not easy. But, I hope we can go, as I and my family love the ocean and I personally love the Lovecraftian atmosphere of New Hampshire. I can just imagine Deep Ones lurking just off shore watching everyone frolic on the beach while I'm there.

I plan on completely destroying Canada and then raising up a chain of Taco Stands on the area.
Either that or just waste my time watching Godzilla and Santo movies.

By Drive-Ins to do you mean drive in movie theaters? We haven't had one of those in years. They closed down because the owners discovered they could make a lot more money selling the land to developers who put other businesses or parking lots on it. Same thing happened to our best miniature golf course. As for drive in restaurants our oldest one (my parents went to it before I was born) still exists but only because a new generation decided to reopen it after it had been closed for years. Our second oldest restaurant is now a used-car dealer (sigh, I miss "Kings".) I'm sure having cold, snowy winters didn't help the drive-in movie theaters.
-I- don't have any plans. My sister on the other hand would like to talk me into spending a few days in a park with her, her 15 year old son (who BTW is now too old for tokusatsu, sigh) and pre-teen foster children (brother and sister). Her husband will have to work. I don't know if my sanity can stand it. The foster children are hyper. They never shut up and always have to be doing something. State psychiatrists say they need drugs, I think they need a good spanking. [There is something wrong with a society that thinks an occasional swat on the rear is abuse and that drugging children into submission is the way to handle bad behavior.] My sister has them because their mother and her boyfriend exposed them to things children shouldn't be exposed to. I don't know why but the boy likes me (Arggggghhhhh). If I go to the park I'll have a 12 year old who throws a fit if you tell him "no" wanting me to entertain him all day for 3 days. The only upside I see to it is that hiking through the woods would be good for me. I don't do enough walking. It wouldn't be a very enjoyable hike though. If there are any bridges to cross I'll have to hold the boy's hand and practically drag him across it. [I've already experienced one walk throuh a park with him]. He's afraid of hights. His sister's high pitched voice gives me a headache and will make cerrtain that there are no animals to see for hundreds of miles. She goes from "off" to "full blast" in under a second. She'd make an excellent tornado warning system. I can just imagine what fishing with these two would be like. The fish would all be at the bottom of the lake with their fins in their ears. Not that I'd actually let either of those two within miles of a fishhook.

You can add - ' Looking for a new job' to my list of Summertime Plans. Got the word Monday that I'm permanently layed off once again, beginning this Friday. As Dudley Dickerson once said, " Help! Help! I'm losing my mind!!"

Well my plans now include moving-my wife and I are signing the lease to a house Friday!! It's a nice two story house out in the middle of nowhere with 80 some acres of land with it, a frog pond in the yard(sweet! I don't know if my sons or I am more excited about this! hehe). There is no cable availible there, so we are not going to get satelitte-the few cable channels i watch just don't justify the ridiculous price charged anymore, besides we have thousands of dvds and tapes(remember those?) , not to mention Netflix, to provide viewing choices for years!! I will also be going through my collection of stuff as i pack and will post anything interesting here. I'd rather give my friends here on xeno dibs on anything rather than waste my time on ebay. I am 90% sure that I will be parting with my collection of Famous Monsters and similar magazines as I haven't looked at them in many years. I believe they are still in the box I packed them in 7 years ago when we moved where we are now!

Nothing so far, but there are some things I'm investigating. It'll work out eventually.
BLOB-FEST was a blast. Got to meet Jonathan Haze (of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS)! A very nice guy. I will post some pictures when I can.

That sounds like it was awesome! What movies did they screen this year? Good luck on the job hunt, I really hope you turn something up soon-I know just how much it sucks being out of work for any length of time! As for the house we can start moving in next week! I'm off tomorrow so I'll be packing all day. We've already got a good portion of stuff packed, so I'll be working on my stuff-the dvds and mainly the ginormous figure and model collection-that's going to be a pain in the you-know-where to pack. i have at leat one item-the X-Plus USA resing 1964 King Ghidorah model-that will have to ride on my lap to the new place becasue it's way to fragile to be packed in anything! Those stupid little horns will snap off if you look at them funny and I don't think i could glue them back on right even if I could find them after they came off!And that's not mentioning his necks, tails and wings-all long, thin and heavy-ie-very breakable! I think most everything else I have I can pack, even the plastic models if I wrap them carefully because they aren't heavy, but this King Ghidorah, I've been worried about moving ever since I got it!

Man, hard to believe summer is pretty much over. All of my kids are now in school and that is unchartered territory for me. Heck, it is kind of nice as the house is so quiet during the day. My Brother moved back home from Vegas where he moved after Katrina. It is nice having him home. The only bad things to happen this summer were my Wife's Uncle passing away and them cutting off my Comp. I guess it is good about the comp because we are entering the settlement phase of my case but it has put alot of strain on us monetarily. Oh well, all's well that ends well.

COMING SOON TO A WAREHOUSE NEAR YOU:
Well, I'll be on the road to a new career beginning Monday. I got approved for training to get my CDL A, so I'll be a truck-drivin' man! Seriously, I'm happy about this. I'll always love computers, but I'm ready for a change and I've always enjoyed driving.

Thanks. I'll be careful. My kids were concerned about me doing this for a while, but I'm probably going to drive a straight 24' truck as far as on the job and just locally (no over-the-road). I'll be learning on the big tractor trailers while in school though in order to get the CDL A. It will open up more opportunities than a CDL B would.
