Hey guys, been awhile! Anybody pick up the Land That Time Forgot/People That Time Forgot Midnite Movies disc? I didn't even see this one on the radar, and there it was one day when I stopped into Best Buy. Nice presentation. I've only watched Land so far, but the picture quality is great and it's presented in widescreen. Doug McClure was the man! Great movie, I remember seeing this one on the big screen back in '76 or so with my father. It's already a fave of my boys. The little guy asks to watch "the pirates & dinosaurs movie" 3-4 times a day!

I knew it was out, but since I have the R2 German version (complete with English track) I passed on it. They are fun movies, despite the dinosaurs. Nice to see you again!

Thanks, M-man, and nice to see you as well. Been a busy work season, but things are winding down and I'm hoping to have more time to come around, as well as find some new movies to watch and talk about.

I remember seeing that double-bill on TV way back in my youth. I haven't actually seen the films in a long time though... Part of me might not want to given that I've since read the books. Which reminds me, I still need to read Out of Time's Abyss.

Once you read the books the movies do pale in comparison, but they also explain things like "bo-lu" and "ga-lu" and what they mean. I like the books a lot.

I think I like the books more because they're by Edgar Rice Burroughs and I find his work quite readable. As dinosaur fiction goes, I obviously prefer Conan Doyle over Burroughs... Contrary to some pimping I've seen the Burroughs estate do at the expense of The Lost World, his trilogy shows a mind caught up more feverishly in fantasy than in science fiction.

well, Burroughs thoroughly eschewed any type of mysticism in every book i've read of his- not to say they aren't fantasy oriented, but they aren't mystical- everything is explained with (usually wild) science and he also usually went out of his way to make sure any possible mysticism was shown to be fake. Doyle, while writing very scientifically was a HUGE mystic (as we all know). i have no idea what Burroughs' personal beliefs were though. any more thoughts?

If Burroughs didn't believe in Mysticism how does he explain his making a Stegasaur fly in TARZAN AT THE EARTH'S CORE?
Just a thought.

Hey Megs, it looks like there's a new UK R2 of this coming out with a "making of" extra. Does yours have that? Is it any good?

i think there is a "making of" on the end of "all monsters attack" which is what i would assume would be on that R2 as well. i know they even did one for AT THE EARTH'S CORE (i don't remember a stegosaurus flying, though) because i saw it on tv.

I'm just rewatching this. What a good movie! I guess I've been watching too much schlock, but everything about this looks top notch to me, including the sets and dinos. There was way too much going on in the book to get it all on film but I think they did a good job adapting what they could.
Love all the action packed drama of the 1st act on the Uboat. Then it just gets better from there.
Too bad People That Time Forgot didn't come out so well. Outside of Dana Gellespie's cleavage there's not much to be said for it.
