I can't say I'm a big fan of Rolland Emmerich movies, and won't start to now. But I thought I'd give this heads up for Manly Wade Wellman's Kardios and Hok fans. Emmerich is making a movie called 10,000 B.C. which looks very much in the "pre-history" tradition of Hok, Kardios and other cave heroes. The plot description goes as such: "It was a time when man and beast were untamed and the mighty mammoth roamed the earth. A time when ideas and beliefs were born that forever shaped mankind. 10,000 B.C. follows a young hunter (Steven Strait) on his quest to lead an army across a vast desert, battling saber tooth tigers and prehistoric predators as he unearths a lost civilization and attempts to rescue the woman he loves (Camilla Belle) from an evil warlord determined to possess her." movies.yahoo.com/movie/1809724938/video/3317950/From the trailer it definitely has the "caveman stumbles on a more advanced Atlantian-type civilization" vibe that Wellman visited on many occasions in his prehistory yarns. The fashionably dreadlocked (as opposed to dreads coming from hair being covered in muck and crap) hairdoos, the eye shadow and makeup and such are a real throwback to the Harryhausen/Danforth/Hammer Horror "Man vs Dinosaur" romps like ONE MILLION YEARS B.C. and WHEN DINOSAURS RULED THE EARTH.

well, maybe i'll give it a shot. i dislike all the camera movement that is so prevalent in most movies today, but this could be fun.
of course, if Maxus shows up along with some Fire Monsters, that will be the best part!

Was just thinking the same thing! That would be awesome hehehe.
I think the overall idea is great. If I can get past the cutesy currently fashionable looks and makeup. That type of stuff is quaint in the old movies, but doesn't really pass muster for a contemporary production if it takes itself seriously at all. It just makes it look very scifi channel cheapo.
