I canNot find it on the internet but somebody had told me that the 1930s movie FREAKS is now released on dvd. Not only that but he also told me that the movie on the dvd has three different endings! This is the first time I heard of those alternate endings, so it astonished me, since FREAKS is one of my all-time favorite movies. Can anyone verify about those ALTERNATE endings? The movie has always captivated me because I've always been intrigued by the Real-life Sideshow deformities. For those who don't know, FREAKS featured actual real-life human oddities such as CONJOINED TWINS and a BEARDED LADY, etc. It's being stigmatized as being an exploitational movie caused it to be banned in many cities. And its oddness continues to intrigue many fans to this day. At first,I hesitated to post this under the category of monsters, because the way I see it, they are Not really monsters. Sure, they have deformities, but it's the Normal people who persecuted and tormented them. It makes you wonder who the REAL monsters are, doesn't it?

I've only ever watched part of the movie, it's pretty difficult even now to finish. I did read the DVD was released, but have not seen it just yet. If you get it, let us know what you think of it.

Seen it at Media Play the other day, but haven't actually seen the movie. A pretty disturbing movie, from what I've heard. It was banned in several states back in the day, wasn't it? I like Tod Browning's movies anyway, so I'll probably pick it up one of these days.

I just got this (actually, rented and burned it, so sue me!!), and the disc is very cool. The documenatry portion actually goes through the history of each of the Freaks/actors in the movie, very interesting!!!

This is actually one of the better horror movies that deserves the name of "horror". For instance Lovecraft books are in the horror section of a book store, but they are not really horror or scary. Freddie, Jason and pals are considered horror movies but are just shock and gore fests.
Alien is a true horror film. Freaks is a true horror film.
take the time to watch the whole movie David, if you're into true horror movies, this one is near the top of my list.

Bought it and watched it a couple of weeks ago. I really liked it. Not one of my favorite classic horror movies, and by no means one of Tod Browning's best films (maybe number three, right behind THE UNKNOWN and DRACULA considering how many Browning films I've seen), but it was very good nonetheless. Very disturbing.

It should be also noted that the CONJOINED Twins who appeared in the FREAKS movie were Violet and Daisy Hilton who also appeared later in the movie CHAINED FOR LIFE. In that movie, their abnormality of having CONJOINED bodies presented a very bizarre mystery. A detective had to figure out which of them had committed a homicide. I was told that it is now available on video but I've been Unable to find it. So has anybody among you found that video and maybe comment on it?
