Directed by John "Bud" Cardos (SATAN'S SADISTS).
One of my all-time favorite movies, even though I have no idea what exactly is happening; I don't think the filmmakers did, either. But there's lots of stop-motion, matte paintings, sparkly things, and people running around screaming. Very much a "Cinemagic"-style movie. Heavy on effects (some quite nice), low on content.
Strangely relaxing science fiction movie, good for weekend viewing. Good good good.

it used to be one of the last late night staples- new enough to show, but now it's just faded away, sort of. it's worth a look, to see the cool effects.

I always wondered if it was too painful to see or not. The stills of the anim models are quite nice but it otherwise sounded like a stinker. If I ever cheaply and easily run across it, think I'll check it out.

Some people occasionally enjoy movies that have no clearly defined story, and if you like something like that from time to time, it might be up your alley. I rather liked it. Think of it as the Cinemagic equivalent of "Un Chien Andalou." Well, maybe that's a little lofty. Hmmm.
Okay, try this: The movie is the fries, and the special effects are the ketchup on the fries. Yeah, that's it...

I bought Brentwood's Galactica 10-movie, 5-DVD pack. This movie was included among them. Considering the set included STAR ODYSSEY, NEOPHITES AND NEON LIGHTS, and IDAHO TRANSFER, this was one of the less painful movies in the set. Not as good as DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS or the original LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, but it was interesting. Especially when watching it at 4 AM like I did. It's weird but not bad. Some cool SFX.

i think that this started out as one movie, then ended up as another. it seemed like it wanted to be scary, then ended up in "awe and wonder".

According to an article in Famous Monsters, the production was fraught with problems, people being hired and fired all over the place...it sounds like it was...unpleasant. But what a result, for all that unpleasantness!
It does have a LOT of effects shots...goodness knows they don't support a story, but there's lotsa neat stuff to look at...would make a nice party reel, just put some Devo on over the audio.

Well, I actually *like* Brett Piper movies (great effects, bizarre if not awful everything else), so I can imagine that I'll probably like this.
AND it just came out on a new DVD edition on Dec 7th 2004. So I got it off of Amazon for $6.00

Here's a piece of Marcy Lafferty's dreamy, tripped-out rant at the end of this film. It's actually almost painful to listen to, so I guess technically this is a bad film, but it's a fun kind of bad. You can't beat lines like these:
"I FELT a COMMUNICATION--a series of IMAGES, after which I knew what was happening to us, and I knew our fear was unnecessary...I don't think it knew what deception was--it goes beyond those things--millions of years beyond. And yet, there's a feeling there of warmth! These are life FORMS, evolved past anything our imaginations are capable of perceiving now..!"

I have the movie now... couldn't bear to wade through the whole thing to get to the stop motion goodies. Watched that and will get back to the rest of it later on.
The models are well done, the animation is also well done but not very dynamic.
