SATANIC RITES OF DRACULA was put out by FRONT ROW ENTERTAINMENT.It has no real extras per se but it is widescreen.Plus it's cheap.Paid less than four bucks at WALGREENS for my copy.So what if it doesn't have trailers or interviews with the actors. You can find those in countless other videos and dvds.Support this dvd since it's a real bargain

The picture is very good. There is a little jump or skip[you know line black lines appear]but it is VERY BRIEF,about a frame or two that's it.This dvd is a bargain.
And Drac sure isn't a hero in this one[it'd be hard to have a heroic Drac in THE SATANIC RITES OF DRACULA] but let's face it we want him a s a villain and Lee is the BEST Dracula[there I said it you Lugosi Lovers!]and one can only get a kick as he has a sit down with Van Helsing[Peter Cushing]with a lamp obstrocting his face and disguising his voice by imitating Lugosi's voice!Honest.
There is also a great scene where Van Helsing's rather good looking grandaughter[played by Juanna Lunley] is thrown in a dungeon with about five female vampires right about dinnertime.Alot of people say this was the bottom of the barrel for Hammer. If so their bottom of the barrel is way better than most evryone elses top of the barrel.

I've only seen Hammer's first Dracula and Rites, so I can't compare it to the others. Compared to the first its not very good.

it's been so long since i've seen this. TNT had a marathon on in the early 90s, that's how long. i don't remember caring much for it, though.

I personally think it's a great film.I didn't go in expecting high art but to be entertained and it delivers.

By the way,for those of you who've seen it on broadcast tv or basic cable, there would be edits in the film which would perhaps give it a disjointed feel. The film here is complete. There are scenes of female nudity.

I got around to watching it for the first time a few days ago. It was interesting, and somewhat entertaining. It comes off almost like a James Bond-type film, with the vampire in a secondary role. Not a bad film, but nothing great either. I thought the way Drac croaked was a nice departure from the standard Dracula deaths in film. By the way, I have the Platinum widescreen disc, in the thin case, the one showing Lee spreading his cape in the archway. The print is great, but the disc is pretty barebones, the only extras being a quiz and cast bios, but for the cheap cost (I think I paid $3.99 at Circuit City, somewhere between $4-5 anyway) it's a nice disc. DigiView has a $1 version you can find at Walmart. I'd imagine the print is rough, but that may be the better route since it isn't a great film. Definitely worth a buck.
