Saw this on the Latarnia Naschy site! Excellent news -it's high time a good collection of Naschy discs was released. BCI is also prepping a set of Mexican discs, but Latarnia mentioned these only in passing. I am curious about those titles as well. The production staff of BCI is manily the crew behind the subbed Santo discs from Rise Again a few years ago, so the quality and care put into these upcoming discs will be top notch. Hopefully this new batch of Mexican discs have the legal rights ironed out and they can pick up where they left off on that series too!
BCI has finalized a deal with a major rights owner of Spanish horror films to release in America 6 Naschy titles on DVD. Included in the deal are 2 Amando de Ossorio titles, and 1 Leon Klimovsky film. Word is that HD anamorphic transfers are being prepared and that the releases will contain generous supplemental material. The Naschy titles are:
NIGHT OF THE WEREWOLF (THE CRAVING) EXORCISM VENGEANCE OF THE ZOMBIES HUMAN BEASTS HORROR RISES FROM THE TOMB BLUE EYES OF THE BROKEN DOLL(HOUSE OF PSYCHOTIC WOMEN)
The de Ossorio titles:
NIGHT OF THE SORCERERS LORELEY'S GRASP
The Klimovsky title:
DRACULA'S SAGA
These titles are on retainer as a possible second batch if the first group sells well. I'd love to see a good widescreen uncut disc of each of these, except DRAGONFLY as I've never seen it, and i think it's more of a gangster film, but i'd get that one too.
A DRAGONFLY FOR EACH CORPSE WEREWOLF AND THE YETI (NIGHT OF THE HOWLING BEAST) HUNCHBACK OF THE MORGUE DRACULA'S GREAT LOVE

I would have liked to see more Daninsky films included as well, but that is a good selection of Naschy's non-wolfman films. And counting the British Mondo macarbro disc of DR JEKYLL AND THE WOLFMAN, there have been good discs released of most of the Daninsky films now. We still need quality releases of ASSIGNMENT TERROR (c'mon Shreik Show-be a perfect follow up to Frankenstein's Bloody Terror!), FURY OF THE WOLFMAN's uncut version (called WOLFMAN NEVER SLEEPS-what an odd title!),THE BEAST AND THE MAGIC SWORD and LICANTROPO. I'm still very curious about the set of Mexican discs that was mentioned as well.

Always cool to see more rarities being released, though usually from companies we can't get in Canada. I've always liked the Lorely's Grasp, not sure why though...
