Thanks to free movie passes I saw this last Sunday and was pleasently surprised. For once Hollywood didn't "re-imagine" a remake and completely change it to an "in name only" version like so many others have been! The plot followa the original 1976 film quite faithfully but adds enough new stuff to be it's own incarnation. The actors were all quite good-especially Mia Farrow as Mrs Baloc-Damien's Satanic nanny. They even gave her an in-joke line about ROSEMARY'S BABY when she says she's been caring for children like Damien for almost 40 years now. The audience was nearly as entertaining for me as the film too-there were probably 25 other people there, mostly teenagers, who apparently thought this was going to be one of those stupid hip, "ironic" "horror" movies like most of them nowadays. Well, they were wrong, hehe. Even a couple of the guys screamed when David Thewlis got his head lobbed off, I had to chuckle at them. There were 2 girls, probably 15 or so, a couple seats down from me that i thought were going to jump onto me before the movie was over! Amateurs. Good thing it wasn't something that was actually scary or really disturbing being shown, these light weights would probably all have heart attacks!

;D I shoulda bribed the projectionest to put on something like Fulci's THE BEYOND-it's the goriest film I've ever seen, yet it's still atmospheric and creepy as hell without the gore. Those dumb kids would probably have all keeled over!

;D I shoulda bribed the projectionest to put on something like Fulci's THE BEYOND- The bathtub scene is one of my favorite zombie film moments. Still wondering how he fit in there though!
