I was at Big Lots today and found one copy of the Michael Rennie/Paul Naschy "Dracula vs Frankenstein" on dvd. It was one dollar so I bought it.
The last time I bought it was more than 10 years ago, it was on vhs and cost ten dollars. i think i gave it away.
I don't remember this being a really good movie but there's some fun stuff in it...

When horror host Dead Wood ran the film he constantly played the Peter Gunn theme whenever the detective in the film came out.

one of the first films i ever traded for- it's fun, but there could have been more monster battles throughout. i'd like to see a nice widescreen DVD though.

Yeah, you know, it's really not bad. I'd like to see a really nice version of it too.
Originally I saw this on TV in the early 70's and I thought it was awesome-looking and scary. To my eyes, as a kid, it was spectacular horror entertainment.
Then I bought it on VHS twenty-some odd years ago and was shocked that it didn't resemble my memories of it. Suddenly it was this cheap, terrible film. Got rid of the tape somehow. Was kind of angry I had spent 10 bucks on it.
This time around I view the movie differently. I have acquired more of a taste for cheesy horror schlock (and Naschy films) and now it's perfectly acceptable silliness.
