Terror Creatures From The Grave (1966)
Barbara Steele - Cleo Hauff
Walter Brandi - Albert Kovac
Marilyn Mitchell (Mirella Maravidi) - Corinne Hauff
Alfred Rice (Alfredo Rizzo) - Dr. Nemek
Richard Garrett (Riccardo Garrone) - Joseph Morgan
Alan Collins (Luciano Pigozzi) - Kurt, the servant
Tilde Till - Louise, the maid
Edward Bell (Ennio Balbo) - Paralytic
This is another Italian movie dubbed in English. It starts out looking like its going to be more of a murder mystery then a horror movie but at the end the graves open and the spirits of the dead come out.
In answer to a letter, a lawyer makes a long journey to write a man's will. When he arrives at the villa he learns from his clients wife that the man has been dead for a year and could not have sent the letter. The villa was built on land once occupied by a hospital where victims of the plague died. The dead man's daughter claims her father had occult powers and could communicate with the dead. She keeps imagining that she sees her father.
Five people testified that the owner of the villa had gotten drunk and fallen down the stairs. Two of the witnesses died before the film began. the third is found dead apparently from heartfailure. The clerk in the local hall of records believe the other two are not long for this world. The fourth witness is wheelchair bound man who's dying from illness. The fifth signature is unreadable.
The ghosts in this are invisible.
I was enoying it until it turned into a pretty lame ghost story. Would have been better if it had turned out that the villa owner was still alive or someone else was impersonating him.
Of course the lawyer and the dead man's daughter fall in love.
Mrs. Hauff reminds me of Morticia.
Available along with 8 other films in a DVD collection titled "Horrorlicious".
