THE FLASH is one of my all-time favorite superheroes,so you can imagine my exhilaration when it became a live-action tv-series. Now it's available on dvd but in a Boxed set so the price is too steep for me. I remember when it used to be VHS in which format it was offered one episode at a time. I had preferred it that way because I could pick just my favorite episodes individually, such as the TRICKSTER as played by MARK HAMILL.
So I was wondering if any other FLASH fan on this forum has bought the FLASH dvd set and can comment on it. For example, does it have an extras? And what are your favorite episodes?
In my case, my favorite episodes would include the TRICKSTER and MIRROR MASTER. The only characteristic about the TRICKSTER portrayal that disappointed and mildly irritated me was its embarrassing resemblance to the JOKER's personality as was previously seen on you-know-what Adam West tv-series. Actor MARK HAMILL played it too much off-the-top, in my opinion. I wonder if some others among you FLASH fans feel that way.
On the other hand,MIRROR MASTER as portrayed by actor DAVID CASSIDY was more than capably done. It was done very seriously and realistically. Maybe what enhanced the portrayal was due to the stark contrast between CASSIDY's Mirror Master and CASSIDY as that squeaky-clean character on the tv-series THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY. To me,it appeared as though CASSIDY's disgust at his KEITH PARTRIDGE role served as the impetus which drove him to put his heart and soul into a villainous role. You see, I had previously seen a behind-the-scenes special on THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY in which it was revealed that CASSIDY had many UNpleasant experiences during the series. To me, it seemed that he brought all that bitterness with him when he played the MIRROR MASTER which is what made the villain so realistic. Just my opinion or at least the impression I got from it.
So let's hear some comments about THE FLASH tv-series. It sorely disappoints me that there's hardly any discussion on this tv-series about such a classic superhero.
