Some unkown force killed the other colonists and destroyed their ship.

i LOVE this movie. i even have the so cool soundtrack! it's easy to see the influence this had on Star Trek.
i'm hoping a nice new DVD set comes out next year for it's 50 year anniversary. it deserves it.

Why a new DVD?

mostly because this one is pretty "no frills" and i think there is a lot of background that could make a great set- plus commentary from Leslie Nielson. that's all.

Yeah, they could possiibly get Leslie Nielson to do commentary but most of the other major cast and staff are dead.
Nicholas Nayfack - produced, deceased Fred M. Wilcox - director, deceased Irving Block - writer, deceased Louis Barron - electronic, tonalities deceased (union would not allow to be credited as composer)
Walter Pidgeon - Dr. Edward Morbius ,deceased Jack Kelly - Lt. Jerry Farman, deceased Marvin Miller - voice or Robby the Robot, deceased
Jack Kelly was Bart Maverick, Bret's brother, in the original "Maverick" series

i so love this movie. the doc on disc 2 is just great as well, and i prefer featurettes over commentaries for the most part. Anne Frances still looks pretty good.
ima watch INVISIBLE BOY after it, since i've never seen that movie. i can't get over how good this 50th anniversary set looks.

Yeah that was a great DVD set of a great movie and with great extras, no way to turn that down. Out of the many and varied movies I've watched on tape and DVD over the years, this is the one that screams "show me on a super huge screen!". It would be a great incentive to get a big screen HD, etc TV.

and now that i have my HD set, ima watch this movie on it. should look incredible, i must say!
i watched THE INVISIBLE BOY, and it was pretty entertaining, if somewhat silly. there's just something about boys and robots that makes things entertaining though.
