The Head (1959) Horst Frank - Dr. Brandt, alias Dr. Ood Karin Kernke - Irene Sanders Helmut Schmid - Bert Jaeger Paul Dahlke - Police Commissioner Sturm Dieter Eppler - Paul Lerner Kurt Müller-Graf - Dr. Walter Burke Christiane Maybach - Stella, alias Lilly Michel Simon - Professor Dr. Abel Dr. Abel invents a serum that keeps tissue alive after the main body dies. When he suddenly dies of a heart attack, his mad assistant Dr. Odd cuts off his head and using the serum, keepts it alive. He forces Abel to aid him in giving Irene Sanders, a hunchbacked nurse, a new body. Dr. Ood really is mad. Another scientist experimented on his brain. The experiments made him a scientific genius but they also destroyed his sanity. He's an actual lunatic, the full moon renders him completly irrational. This German film (dubbed in English) isn't a bad B movie, though the ending could be better. Banned in Finland. The Head is on a DVD titled Weird Science Theater, along with The Brain that Wouldn't Die (1962) and The Manster (1962, Japan).

I saw THE HEAD once way back in the '60s and haven't seen it since. It's definitely on my list of future DVDs. I already have the other 2 films in this particular set, which are fun.
