For the first time the first season of the original Star Trek is available in a box set. Before Star Trek was only available in indivdual DVDs containing only 2 episodes each. (Those I'm slowly renting). I saw the set at Best Buy. There was a sticker on it which indicated that its made in Mexico.

One ST episode which really perplexes me is the episode "Metamorphosis," so maybe someone can iron out the discrepancy for me. It concerns a gaseous alien, a cloud-creature known as the Companion because it has kept company with Zefrem Cochrane who got marooned on a remote planetoid. Toward the ending, it is found that the gaseous Companion is actually Female, and has fallen in love with Zefrem. At the same time, though, Zefrem has fallen in love with a Nancy Hedrick who has a terminal illness. To save Nancy's life, the alien enters Nancy's body and the alien's immortality cures Nancy. The alien had done this also because it would provide it, the alien, with a human body which, in turn, would enable it to experience human-type love with Zefrem. The result is that now there are TWO beings occupying Nancy's body, that is, both Nancy as well as the Alien. Now Zefrem loves ONLY Nancy, and Nancy also loves Zefrem, but how can this insane arrangement work out with the inclusion of the Alien occupying Nancy's body at the same time? After all, Zefrem does NOT love the Alien. How can Zefrem and Nancy share INTIMATE RELATIONS if the Alien shares the same body?

Have you seen Star Trel Next Generation or Star Treek Deepsace Nine in which there are people with slug like creaturing living inside them? The personality of the man or woman and the slug are mingled. The person has their own memories as well as all the memories the slug has from all the bodies its lived in.
Then there is Star Gate: SG1 in which more slugs inhabit people. Some are good slugs and some are evil. The good slugs only enter people who give permission. They pass from a dying host to a new host through the mouths, by kissing. The evil take people over with or withour permission, entering by biting a hole in the back of the neck. The slugs can cure most diseases (including cancer) and wounds. They Keep the human host alive for longer than normal. A person with a good slug can alternate between personalities. The evil slugs take total control of the host.
It gets confusing as to who is in love with whom in GS1. One woman was friends with a man who had a slug in him. The slug was in love with another slug that was once in the woman. Then the man fell for the woman, but was it really the man who loved the woman or was it the slug remebering the other dead slug? The woman wasn't romantically interested in either.

i will eventually get the first series on DVD, as i love that show. having just read "Voyage of the Space Beagle (and also noting similar monsters to Alien (Ixtl, who put eggs in people and such) there is also a gaseous cloud monster that eats living things. Not Metamorphosis but the other one.

The original Star Trek is returning to television. The new CW network will be runing remastered editions of the first Star Trek on Saturday nights, 7pm central time. You'll have to look up the channel. In my part of Nebraska CW is on what was the WB channel 15.
