this is a great movie, scary and thought provoking. the DVD has both the US version and the UK version, and while technically correct that NIGHT OF THE DEMON was never released here, GoodTimes VHS put out the longer UK version under CURSE OF THE DEMON, which i had for several years. i didn't know it was the longer one until i saw the US version projected on the big screen and wondered why it was zipping along so quickly.
Dr. Holden arrives in London to help his pal Harrington expose a devil worshipping cult. in the process he gets tangled up with Prof. Karswell, the leader of the "believers". he has to figure out how to stay alive!
moody photography, great actors and script and cool effects. the demon is a puppet, but is mostly shown in smoke and mirrors, very cool and creepy. the DVD is too clear with the parchment, you can see the string that they use to make it move.
but minor quibbles! great movie, the main inspiration for THE EQUINOX we've been talking about for a while!
