a very silly and enjoyable space comedy. bombed at the box office, but while no classic, didn't deserve that fate. lots of great special effects, action and some funny lines (and some painfully non- funny humor).
in the future water is the most precious commodity ever. the planet Mithra, run by evil Templars controls most of the water. rebels stealing ice to make a living are known as "Ice Pirates". there is a legend of "The 7th Planet" which is covered in water, but no one believes it. the Princess' father went searching for it, but has not returned. she enlists the aid of Jason and Roscoe to help her find it.
despite there not being much water in the galaxy, the people are very clean. i saw this in 1984, and thought it was really funny. 22 years later it's not quite as funny, but still enjoyable.
the "SURPRISE" ending is very predictable.

Saw it on HBO or something back in the late 80s and thought it was hilarious. Don't remember much about it now, outside of the scene where he asks the robot "what's that?" pointing over a ledge and then pushes it off when it looks over. Sounds dumb to write about but was really funny at the time. hehehe
