Coming in January from BCI/Ronin Entertainment!Senko Planning's SUPER ROBOT: RED BARON (1973), a 39-episode action-packed tokusatsu series featuring the battles of the titular super robot against the mechanical hordes of the Iron Alliance, is getting a DVD box set treatment from BCI/Eclipse on their Ronin Entertainment label. RED BARON features non-stop action, colorful miniature effects, imaginative production design, and a score by Bob "Gatchaman" Sakuma—released for the first time outside of Japan, fully subtitled in English! Tapped as a consultant, I heartily recommended RED BARON (and the other two series in the pipeline) to Cliff MacMillan of BCI, and was subsequently contracted to prepare the written supplementary materials for this complete box set, as well as editing the English subtitle scripts. Despite the ad running in the new Wizard magazine, RED BARON will be the second series out of the gate of the three tokusatsu series forthcoming from BCI. Thanks! Here's an update: The proposed Street Date for SUPER ROBOT: RED BARON is January 8, 2008. Please remember, the extras have to be compiled and episodes have to be translated and subtitled. But, stay tuned for more exciting news from BCI—there are two more tokusatsu series coming from BCI in the coming months as well—and I hope it doesn't end with these three!

This is awesome news indeed!! This is a series I've wanted to see for along time and never thought would get released over here at all! BCI is my new favorite dvd company between these new tokusatsu releases, their Paul Naschy line, ULTRAMAN(I hope they will be able to get the shows from Tsuburaya in the future though) and an upcoming line of Mexican horror movies!

Cool news indeed! Glad to see also that they're finally releasing ISIS! Now if they could only get the legal garbage settled and get SHAZAM! out on DVD. *SIGH*
Looking forward to Red Baron. I have the first 4 episodes of Mach Baron on an old VHS. I would be great if BCI were to put the Mach Baron sequel series out after Red Baron hits shelves. Guess that'll depend on how well these first three "unknown" tokusatsu entries do sales-wise. I know I'll be grabbing a copy of each for myself as soon as they're available.

Cliff wasn't at the panel, it was just a Filmation panel, mostly devoted to the rather lame live action shows.
and i couldn't find the stinkin' booth, which was not labeled BCI or Filmation, but Funimation, which i saw lots of. just didn't look hard enough there.
anyway, the third series is... Silver Kamen!
