Quite a number of years ago I bought a Japanese magazine which featured a tokusatsu called BATTLEHAWK. I've never seen it discussed on any forum so I introduce here. It's hard to describe the costume so the only way I can describe is to say it somewhat resembles Zaboga. It has two heroes, one in red, the other in yellow. What seems unique to that series is that both heroes use huge AXES. My question is, is that the Only weapon they use? Just like LION-MARU used Only a Sword? What else can anyone tell me about this series?

Somebody will be by to explain it more- I think it has something to do with Native American myths, but right off hand I am not sure. There are three Hawks, one is a female. This is one show I'd like to see more of, definately.

Ha ha, I was going to mention that they were tomahawks instead of axes, but that profile is pretty thorough.

The problem I have is that their Weapons are called TOMAHAWKS when they are actually huge Axes. Big difference, especially when you look at the Sizes. And even without the huge sizes, their blade-Shapes clearly show them as the weapons used by European Knights. There's just NO way that those weapons could be associated with Native Americans at all.
The best example where I enjoyed seeing Axes was in the animated series KNIGHTS OF JUSTICE where a busload of Football players wound up in a time-warp which transported them to King Arthur's era. At that time, the Original Knights of the Round Table were incapacitated so the Football players took their places. The place where the Axes came in was one of the villains whose name is Battle-Ax. That's because EACH SIDE of his HELMET has an ax. Besides making his helmet look impressive, those are actual weapons he removes from the helmet when it's time to fight.
While I'm at it, in the KAMEN RIDER V-3 series, I remember the villain DOCTOR G as using an Axe. So I was wondering if the origin of Doctor G has him originating from Europe. Because when I used to watch the V-3 series, I don't recall any background given for that villain. Not only his Ax, but his whole costume gives him the appearance of a Knight.

Football players in King Arthur's Court? Sounds like a great bad movie. ;D
Doktor G was supposed to have originally come from Germany.

Battle Hawk looks so cool- Japan Hero had the intro up to watch. as a name, tomahawks fit well with them, and it's not a big deal to me.
i saw an episode of that cartoon... did the real football players show up? seems like they were using real names and such. i don't remember too much of it, that's for sure, for whatever that means.

BATTLE HAWK Opening Credits www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2IT8jBf89sI have about ten-fifteen episodes on VHS and its actually better than it looks in photographs -- lots of action -- not the greatest henshin hero series to be sure, but its far from the worst.
