finally getting around to watching some of this show, and it's pretty fun- i mean, it's nothing really NEW to the Ultra genre, but it's nice to have it subbed in English. it's good that the Fox Box version seems to have disappeared completely, since that really sucked.
i'm four episodes in so far, but i did cheat and watch the one with Eiji and the original Ultraman already. it's really cool.

I think it was overall a good show. Nice stuff going on with the characters, and the monsters were interesting. Some of the video effects were a little dodgy but it didn't detract too much from the show as a whole. And Rena is hot. There was a one hour movie ( Tiga Gaiden ) that was rather nice... where Tiga is thrown back to a Japanese neolithic time and fights amongst other things a giant Dogu doll. Apparently the UFO people think this is a sculpture representing an alien or deep sea diver or something. I think there was also a Dogu type thing in the 1990s Ultra Q movie. Maybe that's what is inspiring the UFONs.

This is one of my favorite Ultraseries. The monsters are probably the most overall well designed of any Ultraseries-there are very few if any, stupid looking monsters at all. Still, it would have been nice to see a few classic monsters show up. The show is also consistently well written with more character development than usual in there shows and strikes a nice balance between serious sci-fi and comedy episodes.

finally got to vol. 3 disc 1, but it doesn't really keep my interest as much as Cosmos or Max or now Mebius does, but the critters are well designed. it's too bad they didn't get this one done right over here, as it could have done very well.

At least the DVDs were subbed. I don't mind dubbing on some stuff as long as it isn't intentionally stupid, like Tiga was. I like some of the mythology and Ultra-history that Tiga was getting into. That was an interesting alternate universe. Oh yeah, and there was Tiga:Final Odyssey which really went into the whole ultra-history thing. Pretty neat. the full movie seems to be on youtube. And a music video for Tiga Gaiden is on there too.
