i am not going to be too thorough with this here review, because i am going to be doing better ones for print but I saw three episodes of Ultra Q today.
what's that? plenty of you have seen Ultra Q? well, true, but not three episodes in English! and not the Namegon (Martian Snail) episode as well. i saw the Sudar, the Kemul alien and the giant mole episodes. they all had the same names as the snail episode- Happy, Jim and Kiko (Keiko?) so i'm going to assume they were all dubbed by the same company.
now, i have no idea where they came from. i imagine they were dubbed to try to sell it to English speaking markets, and the dubbing is quite good. i really enjoyed the Sudar episode, as i like giant octopi lots. i think this show would have done very well over here, it's too bad it wasn't released. it's also too bad these English episodes will never show up on home video, i can tell you.
anyway, it was a fun treat, something i never thought i'd see (although Andre Dubois told me he saw the Sudar episode in English many years ago). it's a great show.
i also got to see WAR OF THE MONSTERS as well, it's lots better at 87 minutes than the original running length.

i recommend it- although there are no superheroes at all, it's a fun interesting and thoughtful show. some really great effects as well.
