just watched this movie and since it's the first i've seen of 555 (or Faiz, what's the official name?) i liked it pretty well, although it was a bit confusing. a little research and it's not really connected to the series. but i like it more than any of Ryuki already. what are the names of the other ones? Rider Cyclops had a neat costume, if made overly elaborate because of the jet pack. Rider Black Key was interesting as well (the Key was a DC villain who's head looked like this guy's). i don't know a thing about Rider Goofball, but he was funny. i did have to laugh at the Donovan's Brain "Smart Brain" though. i thought that went out in the late 50s! a good length at 80 minutes, i hear there's a "director's cut" that runs 100, which would be too long. i'd like to see some of the episodes. the giant monster was OK, and some of the effects were pretty cool. i'll probably have to watch this again to see what i missed the first time. boy, the subs are NOT good on this disc, eh? even the KR V3 ones are better!

The move OK, but not nearly as interesting as the series.
There are no giant monsters in the series itself. They are all human sized kaijin.
Faiz is pretty far from the Rider norm and very far from the classics, but it is probably my favorite, next to KUUGA, of the millinium shows. I think the most intriguing part of the show is from week to week you don't know whose side certain characters are on. It's almost like pro wrestling with some individuals going from bad guys to good guys and back again for what seems like no really good reason. But in this case there's always a reason, it's just buried and will be revealed later, etc.
Effects-wise I think that with watching everything except Ryuuki, I can safely say that Faiz has the best production values of the new shows. They really spent some time and energy to come up with some outrageous effects sequences.
Oh yeah, as for names, it sounds like you got a really miserable HK sub. Faiz is obviously is the main character Takumi Inui, Kaixa is Kusaka, a fellow full of mysterious machinations and one of the main bad/good people. I don't think Delta was in the movie. Delta is the most powerful rider, created by a belt that after long term use drives the wearer insane. Delta went through several users. Kiba Yuji is the Horse Orphnoch and is one of the main characters in the series. His two friends are Yuuka Osada the crane Orphnoch and Naoya Kaido, the goofy "rock star" Snake Orphnoch. He (along with another Faiz main character Mari Sonada) are in the new toku/drama series Shibuya 15.

thanks for the info. i was pleasantly surprised by liking this one as much. Ryuki was adequate at best, let down by nearly unlikable characters and Kido being the biggest goof as a lead ever, plus a story that i figured the ending out to about 1/4 of the way through (not the movie ending, that was just confusing, it took Iga to walk me through it to make sense). and this one has henchmen, sort of. so i'd like to see more of it now.

The Riotroopers appear only briefly in the TV series, and they're not exactly as impressive as in the movie...but then there's only seven of them!
But the monsters-of-the-week might as well be henchmen, considering how little they figure into the stories sometimes with the main bunch of villains.
And for all the unlikable people in Ryuki, Faiz has the most of any Tokusatsu series I've seen. Maybe that's why I liked just about everyone in Blade, even the worst of the villains!

i'll take your word for that. it's hard to know from an 80 minute movie, i reckon. i wonder why the Ryuki characters struck such a negative chord with me. something for me to ponder. at least it's given us something to talk about! would you recommend more episodes of 555?

Well obviously I would since I liked the series so much. But what Iga says is true as well. If you don't like seeing unpersonable people in your toku shows, then it may not be for you as Kusaka is a real ass and Takumi, the main character is a bit of an ass himself. To me that makes some interesting drama and less cardboard cutout type stereotypes.
If you like the heroic, getting along with everyone but knowing what to do when the chips are down type rider, then for the new series I would suggest Kuuga. Godai Yuuske is my favorite Rider character of any series.
