What perplexes me about RAINBOW MAN is his MOON-transformation, the one in the Yellow costume with a Crescent-Moon on his forehead. Even when I saw the series here in Hawaii during the 1970s with even the subtitles, it was still Not explained. ALL the NARRATOR said is just that the Moon-man can go through narrow areas. There are Two possibilities I can think of. First off, after seeing the FANTASTIC FOUR film's wonderful special effects on the ELASTIC Reed Richards, I wonder whether Rainbow's transformation is elasticity. Because as you recall, in the FANTASTIC FOUR movie, at one point, Reed elongated his arm to enable the arm to pass UNDER a locked door so he could open the door from the inside. That's what reminded me of Rainbow's Moon transformation.
Another possibility is that the Moon-man turns into GAS. Because if you look at the transformation, it appears that the costume has DEFLATED. I guess that gaseous form would resemble the man from the Japanese movie THE HUMAN VAPOR. While I'm at it, has anybody ever seen that Japanese film THE HUMAN VAPOR? In fact, has it even been made available on pre-recorded tape?

As Zone suggested, the transformation could be LITERALLY a moon-beam. Although it might sound preposterous, it's actually valid when you take into account the DC-Comics superhero THE RAY. Again in the DC case, the name is literal in that the hero transforms into literally a ray of light. In the case of RAINBOW MAN, we canNot see this actual process because it is hidden and contained within the confines of the costume. So this adds up to THREE theories so far, namely, (1)elasticity, (2)vapor, or (3)moon-beam.
