just got the HK DVD of this fun film. it has adequate subs, but if i didn't know the characters and aliens, it would be difficult. "superman" is used instead of Ultraman. but no biggie.
the story involves the Yapool aliens from Ultraman Ace trying to destroy the Earth, or bring hell to it. four of the brothers, Ultraman, Ultra 7, Jack and Ace manage to imprison him on Earth, but it takes all their power. they resume the lives they had before (i guess this was 1986) as humans, tho there is no mention whether Ultraman re-merges with Hayata.
20 years later, Mebius is in training on Earth, and several aliens want to set the Yapool loose to use his power. Nackle, Zarob, Temporer and Metron (i think) are this league of evil.
eventually, Mebius and the brothers show up and a large battle ensues. Zoffy and Taro also show up at the end (i think they play a part in the his series) and they have to do battle with a huge scorpion like version of the monster they defeated earlier.
the most fun is seeing the original actors of the first four series again. the end credits are nice as well.
it's too bad they didn't use an ultra-monster army at the end, instead of the cg monster they did. that would have been way more fun.
still, a good movie.

I just watched it this morning-thanks again for the disc David! I quite agree that the movie is alot of fun! I really want to see the Mebius series now! I liked this alot more than ULTRAMAN THE NEXT. It was so great to see the original Showa continuity used again, the original Ultrabrothers in action again for the first time in decades and, as David said, the original actors again too! The use of several classic alines from all the original series was cool too-it was like an Ultra Legion of Doom! I agree that an army of classic Ultramonsters would have been better than the almost entirely CGI finale, but it was still fun and the CGI was pretty good too-the Ultrabrothers darting all over the screen followed by whipping tentacles! I've checked the Japanese Mebius website and the series looks even better than the movie! They have used monsters from every Showa Ultraseries from Ultraman-Ultraman 80 and every Ultrabrother and family member have guest starred once or twice as well! They even staged a rematch between Twin Tail and Gudon!

i gotta say that seeing this on the big screen, with some better (if still somewhat sloppy) subtitles was a blast. too bad there was a tool sitting behind me who had to force a laugh at nearly every scene- i coulda' punched him.

here's a nice place to watch many cool Ultra stuff- it's free, even!
www.veoh.com/channels/ultramanmebius1
that's for Mebius. i'm quite enjoying this show, nice to see returning monsters. Birdon does look more impressive this time around than he did in Taro.

Can't have the Ultra Brothers before Ultra Seven has ever visited Earth. How did Moroboshi, Dan become Ultra Seven again when he lost that ability in Ultraman Leo?

they don't give any explanation at all for any of that. nor that Hayata and Ultraman are not being, so technically there are two Hayatas on Earth.
be that as it may, i didn't let it stop my enjoyment of seeing the original actors in these roles.

Unfortunately the subs at veoh (from TVNihon) just go to ep 6 so far. Crunchyroll has up to 18 or 19 (fansubs from Fushigichan). The streaming quality isn't quite as nice as veoh, but the flv filesize is about 1/3 of the veoh, so it isn't such a bandwidth hog.
