This fat slob's been all over the place!!!They cast him for roles he's not right for just to get the MTV crowd into theaters!This explains why we're geting such s****y films in theaters like CATWOMAN.And yes I've heard he's been cast as Carl Denham in KING KONG.I tell you Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich spread some disease around Hollywood which makes everyone make crappy films about established characters!

Who is this Jack Black person that two forums are up in arms over his being in the Green Lantern movie? I've never heard of him. Or the people said to be in the Fantastic Four movie.

He's a rather abrasive comic actor (at least it seems to be in the movies he's been in) and a rocker wannabe (his guest stint on SNL had him do about five musical numbers, I reckon). He's not a bad actor, but he's the comic sidekick. He'd make a good G'Nert GL, I bet, if you went that way.

This would be the proposed Green Lantern comedy with Jack Black as Kyle Rayner then. It won't happen. I'd lay money down on it. I first became aware of him in music videos for Beck and Foo Fighters. I kinda like him in a way, but he is way too overexposed. And he is this guy : www.imdb.com/name/nm0085312/

W ::)T ::)F!??!?!!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?
Dude this is like getting Sky LoLo to play Andre the Giant or Gary Coleman as Shaq! Man, what the hell is wrong with Time Warner? It would be nice to get a semi- comic related movie about their heroeslike Marvel has done. What next, Courtney Love as Wonder Woman? Jack Black gets old real quick. School of Rock was funny because of the kids, inspite of him.

He wasn't bad in "School of Rock" I just don't see him as Green Lantern.

The ONLY way Jack Black could come close to being GR is IF he was the GUY Gardner version, and got his lights PUNCHED out by Batman!!! That would have to be in the film (Just like in Justice League #1 The newer series). Otherwise, Hell NO!
Thank God this is just another vicious rumor!

the best part of this whole debacle was that after the rumor came out, and the hullabaloo started, the studio then immediately denied it!
i can't imagine why a Green Lantern movie hasn't been made. superhero, cosmic ring, it seems that you couldn't mess that up.

Because try as they might DC has trouble putting out compelling movies about their characters. Compare the Reeves Superman flicks and the Keaton/Kilmer/Clooney/Bale Batman(the best of what DC has put out) movies and compare them to the Marvel ones. DC has some great characters but we get crud like Superman Returns. That character was the first and is the greatest super hero. Can't we get a kick ass movie that would make people care about the character? DC's movies are so bland they mae you not give a crap. You may not like Marvel's newer movies but they are head and shoulders above anything DC has put on film. Well, the League of Extraordinary Gentleman wasn't bad, so I guess I should count it. Marvel has put their product out there in a fashion where even non-comic fans know who Beast is, or Doc Ock, or Bullseye is. DC hasn't been able to find a way to make their characters appealling to the masses. Heck Hellboy is above and beyond anything DC has put out so it is possible to do compelling relevant films about comic heroes.

Let's keep in mind our beloved comic heroes are now owned by large corporations who have little to no regard for these characters.They only view them as money making properties and as such they are out to exploit them rather than making great creative enterprises.

it's too bad they do that, since they really could do both- make money and make art. i mean, why not?

Ask Van Gough if it's possible to be artistic and commercial at the same time.You might have to speak up a bit though.I hear the guy's hard of hearing or something like that.
