i'm watching this first movie, and despite a rather poor costume, it's a pretty decent flick. not of Adrienne's appeal, but she does have a nice voice. Arcane is excellent, that's for sure, and stuntman Dick Durock is good in the suit.
i like the sequel more, which i'll review once i watch it again.

I barely remember the sequel but do remember the Swampy costume looked more like the Bissette/Totleben rendition. Can't remember the story for the life of me though.
And then there was the TV series, which was actually quite watchable.
And then the cartoon which I've still not seen and think I probably don't want to.

I remember the first film was a somewhat serious comic adaptation/monster film and the second just became a campy joke with bad actors.Still watchable though.

had the first Swamp Thing been fighting the Alligator people, the costume would have been fine, if not exceptional. the second movie had much better costumes.
i was pretty impressed with the TV series, didn't realize it lasted so long!

I don't know anything about the Swamp Thing but I thought of getting the first movie because Louis Jourdan is in it. He starred in my favorite Dracula movie, the British TV film "Count Dracula" (1977) and was great as the Dracula.

They showed RETURN OF SWAMP THING last night on one of those SHOWTIME channels. It's on tomorrow on FLIX if I'm not mistaken at 8pm central. It's campy but alot more entertaining than the god awful boring tv series that ran on USA in the early nineties.

I liked the movie with Adrianne Barbeau a lot, I think Wes Craven did a really really good work. The movie is a cult-classic today. I prefer the way THING looks in the first movie, rather than the way he looks in the second one. I didn't know about the series... God! 72 episodes... was it a smash-hit or what?

haven't seen Man-Thing, but have heard NOTHING good about it, save the costume.
i don't know if i'd call Swamp Thing a smash hit, but that's a pretty good run for a syndicated series.
good to see you SuperArgo!

excellent! any news on the second SuperArgo movie coming out on disc?
i've started watching the second Swamp Thing movie, and despite some overly silly moments, it's a lot of fun- lots of monsters and action and Heather is a babe, of course. a trifle skinny, but that's Hollywood for ya. and dig those 80s haircuts!

I saw a DVD for Man Thing, anyone seen that yet? I saw Man Thing and liked it. Very removed from the comic book character, but unique nonetheless. Being a B movie to begin with, I wasn't expecting too much, it was ok.

I've been searching high and low for VHS or DVD-R copies of the TV series, with no luck. Did no one tape this show at all???

I don't know for sure, but you could drop an e-mail to this gentleman... www.progressiveruin.com...And ask if he knows how to get them. He's merely the biggest Swamp Thing fan I know. Oh, and you can mention my name if you think it'll help.

The Swamp Thing comic book series was definately not the same fare as the movies. The movies were basically monster films while the comic book though having a monster in it was much more surreal and psychodelic.I'm guessing that was what was over at the time but I would have preffered a series dealing more with monstruos storylines.

the original books were less trippy, more horrific type stuff, but both Swampy and Manny went through the "meaningful" phase of comics.

A new release of Return of the Swamp Thing is coming out next Tuesday (April 1, 2008). Very positive review here. Also if anyone is interested you can watch full episodes of the entire live action tv series at hulu.com if you have an account. If you don't have an account there then you can see it via AOL.

the complete TV series either soon will be or already is out on DVD.
Buyer beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you're looking to pick up the first ST film to add to your movie library, be advised that the politically correct-obsessed pinheads at MGM have trimmed Ms. Barbeau's nude bathing sequence!!! I had very fond er... memories of that scene, so you can well imagine my fit of white-hot rage when I discovered that it had been cut!!
Jeezus! They could have at least placed some kind of a friggin' disclaimer SOMEWHERE on the box to let us know that the film had been tampered with! That scene was one of the main reasons I wanted to buy the damn thing! Agggggghhhhhhhh!!!!!
